City dwellers are amazed by the peace and tranquility of the area.  The Balloons over Vermilion  spectacular sites of colorful hot air balloons is something to be seen in the summer when the annual Balloons over Vermilion event is hosted.  Check out this week long event based at the Vermilion County Regional Airport during July.  There are plenty of outdoor activities that will keep you coming back for more.

  • History Comes Alive

    Danville is well known for its rich history and numerous museums. Locals and visitors alike are often interested in our Downtown, full of Walldog mural paintings depicting the Fithian House rich history of Central Illinois, or visiting the Vermilion County Museum and Dr. Fithian Home where President Abraham Lincoln spent time working as a lawyer. The Vermilion County War Museum, a former Carnegie Library building, is another attraction which features memorabilia and artifacts from the Revolutionary War through Operation Iraqi Freedom.
